Tee it Up for Diabetes

Mountain Credit Union has announced their “Tee it Up for Diabetes” Golf Tournament fundraiser is coming up on May 28, at Springdale Resort in Canton, NC.  The tournament will raise funds to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  JDRF provides funding for research and advocates for government action while providing a support structure for individuals in our community fighting type 1 diabetes.  The North Carolina Chapter of JDRF is located in Charlotte.

This tournament was started in 2014 by Mountain Credit Union’s Mortgage Loan Officer, George Campbell “Cam” Dowdle. Cam passed away on March 13, 2018, and MCU has been able to carry on the tradition of the tournament in his honor. He chose JDRF because of the effect diabetes had on his life personally. Aside from his work for MCU, Cam was dedicated to youth sports in Western North Carolina. He coached basketball and was a radio announcer for local sports teams. To date, Mountain Credit Union has raised nearly $60,000 for the cause.

“Our ‘Tee it Up for Diabetes’ Golf Tournament is a success each year because of the strength and generosity of our community,” said Chris Angel, VP of Marketing and Business Development at Mountain Credit Union. “Through our long-standing partnership with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, we are dedicated to creating a meaningful impact and united effort in aiding individuals impacted by type 1 diabetes.”

The Lunch and Hole in One Sponsorships have been sold, however, many sponsorship opportunities remain available, including $100 Silver, $250 Gold, $500 Platinum, and $1,000 Diamond levels.
