Apple Grafting with Jack Johnston
The use of apples as a sustaining food for pioneers will be discussed. The workshop will then move outdoors for apple grafting. There is limited rootstock but each participant will have one. Bring a water sprout (new growth from the previous year) from your favorite old apple tree. If it is not convenient for you to do this, scion wood will be provided.
If you would like to graft bring a grafting knife or sharp pocket knife. The instructor can graft for you as well. You can take the grafted apple home with you. When the graft is established, the tree should be planted with a wire cage around it to protect rom deer browse.
