The Blue Ridge Bartram Trail Conservancy maintains the 110 mile long Bartram Trail, named after 18th century explorer William Bartram.  Bartram wrote vivid descriptions of the Little Tennessee River Valley, Cherokee Towns and the plant life he encountered.  Sixty five miles of this trail runs through Macon County, NC.
