The Southwestern Commission is the regional council of governments for the seven westernmost counties in North Carolina, the towns within those counties, and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians,  The mission of the Southwestern Commission is to improve the quality of life in the region by assisting local governments in achieving their goals.  The work of the Southwestern Commission is primarily in economic development, workforce development, and services for older adults.
