Bartram 250th Anniversary Event

The public is invited to join the Blue Ridge Bartram Trail Conservancy for a three-day celebration of the 250th anniversary of naturalist and artist William Bartram’s travels through the southern Blue Ridge Mountains in 1775.  The event takes place June 5-7 and includes numerous hikes and workshops for all ages and abilities on both the Georgia and North Carolina sections of the 112-mile-long Bartram National Recreation Trail.

The final event takes place on June 7th at the Cowee School Arts and Heritage Center with an afternoon Art and Nature Symposium that includes panel discussions with artists and writers and a screening of Garrett Martin’s documentary, Paradise, which follows the life of Joe Hollis, an iconic mountain man who lived off-grid for over fifty years.  Garrett Martin will be there to answer questions and discuss the film.  All events are free but require an RSVP.
