HURRICANE PRIMITIVE CAMPGROUND - This campground is open year-round with a 20-unit capacity. It does not have water, but a vault toilet is available for use. There is no fee. Adjacent to the primitive campground is Hurricane Creek Horse Camp. Horse stalls are available and required for overnight lodging of horses.

STANDING INDIAN AREA - Standing Indian is on the headwaters of the Nantahala River. There is a picnic area with a small day-use charge. An 84-site fee campground has tent pads, fire grills, tables, water, flush toilets, showers, and a public phone. Many hiking trails area available, including some that connect to the Appalachian Trail.

STANDING INDIAN MOUNTAIN - The mountain peak is along the Appalachian Trail and is 5499 feet in elevation. The mountain's name came from the peaks resemblance to the standing Indian.
